"The Shadow of The Wind - Carlos Ruiz Zafron"

The Shadow of The Wind is a novel written by Carlos Ruiz Zafron. Carlos Ruiz Zafon is a storyteller in the style of Victor Hugo and Alexandre Dumas. The story begins from a little boy named Daniel Sempere and his encounter with a book, The Shadow of The Wind wrote by Carax. Daniel falls in love with this book and seeks to find more about Carax's novels to read and seeks to find more information about Carax.

However, Daniel learns that Carax lived a singularly unhappy life and died under mysterious circumstances. He learns that, although Carax was a prolific novelist, there is not a single copy of any Carax novel to be found. Someone has been systematically seeking out and destroying all of Carax's books. Soon it becomes clear that more than one person is following Daniel, including a horribly disfigured man who goes by the name of Lain Coubert, a character in one of Carax's novels. The story intertwined with multiple character and intrigue insides, you won’t put the book down until you finish reading it.

The author has his own unique creation of Cemetery of the Forgotten Books, a labyrinth that consist books that long deserted but well kept in this hiding place guarded by a keeper. Carlos is good in portraying places, and you will find yourself one time in a city of Barcelona, and next in a beautiful landscape of rural place of Spain. I like the way he delineate the buildings, the history, and vivid characters with lovely stories. I really recommend to read this work, you won’t find it difficult, and of course it is fun.
